U10s Na Fianna Blitz

U10s Na Fianna Blitz

On Saturday 1 st of June our u10’s team took part in the Na
Fianna blitz. There were teams from Dublin, Wicklow,
Armagh and Meath.
We entered two teams one in the shield and one in the plate,
An A team and a B team.
The A team lined up with: Patrick and Joe O’Shea, Matthew
Whelan, Donnacha McDonald, Alex Kavanagh, Beoan
Kenny, Jamie Gilsenan, JJ Nolan, Thomas Donohoe and
Eoin Stewart. The B’s were with: Paddy Harding, Niall
Ramirez, Alex Gilsenan, Callum Tallent, Conal Paterson,
Dylan Brown, Findlay Neville, Joshua Hennessy, Luke
Morley, Thomas Mooney and Vadim Cojocari.

To start the blitz there was a parade. Then all the teams stood in lines.
The president of the GAA John Horan went around and
shook hands with all the players.
The A’s started their tournament against the Na Fianna
3 rd ’s. We led at half time by three points. 0-3(9) to 0-2(6). In
the second half we got well on top and scored some lovely
points. Patrick and JJ were just two of the boys who scored
lovely ones. Apart from a point and a very lucky goal from a
pass back to the keeper the defence held strong. In the end
we won 0-13(39) to 1-4(13). In the second match we played
Templeogue Synge Street. Thomas got the opening point.
Then we started to get a little scrappy but just before the
break Joe got us a nice point. At the break we led 0-2(6) to 0-
0(0). In the second half we were more dominant. In the end
we won 0-8(24) to 1-1(4). In the 3 rd match it was very a tough
Ballyboden side. It started well for us, we got 3 points on the
bounce but they pulled two points back at us. But then an
outstanding point from Joe from a great pass from Patrick
put us 0-4 (12) to 0-2(6) at the break following a series of
wides from Ballyboden. In the second half Ballyboden
scored a point and a goal to leave only two in it. Then two
frees and a point from play from Joe left 11 in it but 3 on the
bounce from Ballyboden put the game back to two. Then a
long ball from Patrick to Joe caught Ballyboden out Joe then
hit the post Eoin hit the bar but Donnacha put it over. In
the end we won 0-7(21) to 1-5(16). Now we were a game
away from being shield winners but Na Fianna 2 stood in
our way. The game started. We started well and we never
looked back. We scored a point early on through Matthew.
Then we hit around eight wides on the bounce. Finally
Patrick knocked over a point. He was to finish the match
with five points and the tournament with thirteen. At half
time it was 0-3(9) to 0-0(0). In the second half we ran riot.
Joe, Patrick, Beo, Jamie, JJ, Donnacha, Matthew, Thomas
and Eoin all scored points. Many scored more. In the end we
won 0-18(54) to 0-0(0). We had won the shield. Mad

celebrations happened including squirting water at each
other. To name stand out players would be wrong because
everybody was brilliant. The B’s did well too winning two
from four. A special well done to Finlay as it was his last
match.
At the end all the Geraldines’s players received medals from
either Eoin Murchan or Conor McHugh from the Dublin
senior panel and a group of our players got a photo taken
with them both.
