2nd win for u10 hurlers

A sunny morning greeted us at cornelscourt for this 1 team game against St Patricks Palmerstown, a huge turnout from the gers with 17 turning up ready for action. We played 11 aside with 6 subs, well done to Tom for making sure that everybody got plenty of time on the pitch. The Constant subbing made it hard for us to get into a groove but the lads did very well competing for every ball. Plenty of pickups were tried with a great number successful, we are really trying to encourage this and with every week the confidence the boys are showing in this skill is growing.
As for the game itself with all the subbing its impossible to say who played where, as most of the boys were played in multiple positions. There was never more than a couple of scores between the teams in this close contest, Luka Kelly was a welcome boost returning for his first game of the season after being injured and he quickly made up for lost time scoring a goal early on. Harry Weir got on the scoreboard before St Pats replied. James Kearns started off in Goals and made some good saves but it was his distribution from puckouts that caught the eye. the teams exchanged scores in the half with St Pats getting a late goal to see them 1 up at half time.
We started the 2nd half strong with james and morris both getting goals after some nice team play before Frankie slotted over a point from a long range free. That seemed to wake up St Pats as they tried to cut the gap but a mixture of solid defending and us taking our chances meant that we prevailed in the end by 1 goal. Well done to the lads for showing great skill and determination in a close battle, it was good to see the character shown when they were under pressure fighting hard to keep their well earned lead.
