The big news from Sunday was the Gers adult team got another couple of league points while outscoring the opposition in both halves and restricting the visitors to 2 points for the second period. Playing good football that we have been threatening to do for a while the summer break comes at a time when we would prefer to be playing competitive matches, the challenge now is to keep ticking over to when we play St. Peregrines over in Blakestown on the 24th of August.

After 25 minutes of the first half the teams were tied at 1-5 apiece, our goal being set up for Daniel Hussey to finish beautifully from a Donal McEnery pass. Templeogue Synge Street got their goal straight from their kick-out which was an excellent finish that left Neil Costello no chance of saving. Scoring 2-3 in the 5 minutes before half-time more or less decided the game; Keith Stephens palmed the ball into an empty net a minute before Olof Gill sliced a beaut from distance over the bar. Hussey won and converted a penalty on 29 minutes and followed up with a sweet point just on the half-time whistle

Midfield dominance and being on top all over the pitch yielded a flurry of scores after the restart, 5 unanswered points in the first 5 minutes was impressive form and that some of these were long rangers like the one Dick Young scored was all the more satisfying. TSS had a goal chance after this but a last ditch clearance by Eóin MacMaoilir saw that the danger had passed. Point of the half was scored by Aido Greene as his shot from a tight angle was curled over with assistance from the upright.
As satisfying as the win was against a team that we have had problems beating in the recent past we have to bear in mind that tougher matches lie ahead starting with the St. Peregrines fixture. All in all a good positive way to enter the summer break by playing good football with play-offs still in sight
