Please see below the following notice issued by our neighbours Kilmacud Crokes.
It is important to remember that we all live beside each other, in the same neighbourhoods and it is our duty to protect all our children.
The following message from Kilmacud applies not only to ALL GAA clubs, but to ALL clubs.
Please heed the advice below and as stated below ‘routinely remind your children of the rules relating to personal safety in an age-appropriate way and in particular to never engage with an approach from strangers especially while walking alone’.
SIMPLE BUT SAFE ADVICE!!
Message from Kilmacud Crokes to all members
CHILD PROTECTION NOTICE – ADVISORY TO ALL MEMBERS
The area of Child Protection is of primary concern to Kilmacud Crokes in both the club context and in the external community. As a result of this we feel it prudent to communicate to our members and parents that the club has become aware of a couple of recent incidents in the locality where children have been approached by persons unknown to them and an abduction attempt was made. Thankfully nothing came of these incidents and the children were unharmed. Appropriate notification and follow-up is in progress by the Gardai. Parents are encouraged to routinely remind their children of the rules relating to personal safety in an age-appropriate way and in particular to never engage with an approach from strangers especially while walking alone. This would be of particular importance in our Club context with children coming to club activities and the many drop off’ s and pickups of kids which take place at matches and training etc.
