Our sixth annual golf outing took place in Old Conna on Thursday 1 st June and it turned out a very
enjoyable day for the golfers and a good day fund raising wise for the club. Whilst not basking in the
glorious sunshine of the 2016 event, for the most part the rain held off and while it was a “soft day”
in Old Conna, thankfully no one got drenched.

From the feedback I got in the clubhouse after the event, those teams who got out early had the
advantage of playing with a dry ball which gave them the decisive competitive edge. We had from
the AIB team a hole in one which was one of the highlights of the day. Well done to Miceál Gunning
(Under 11 boys and U 7 girls) and his team from Invesco who took first spot: A good win for the
Rossies. The Invesco team was pushed hard by Declan Mc Niff (U 9 boys) who brought a team from
the County Down to challenge: The Mourne men were satisfied to settle for second knowing that
they will have a right crack at first next year!. A team from Bank of Ireland headed by Dave Sheehan
claimed the third prize. Well done to all who played and especially to Noelle and Mary who
represented the female constituency in the club.

On behalf of the club I want to thank in particular

1. the other club members who put in teams :Tom R: Greg C, Eamon H & Shay: TJ and Rory:
Paul OC: Bryan: Aidan K, Conor M

2. those who sponsored teams or put in prizes, in particular Ed Claffey , Andy Kelly and Ger
Moffatt who spearheaded the drive to get sponsors. Those who sponsored teams and /or
prizes included Irish Life; Real Time Recruitment: ACTIF: Sorohans Builders: KPMG: Dúlra
Landscapes: Foxrock Parish: Digicom; Carrig Linen: The Gables:Texaco Foxrock and
Cornelscourt and Shaffrey Solicitors in Cornelscourt and to others who sponsored tees

3. Finally a special word of thanks to two club stalwarts: without the efforts of Bryan and Gerry
O Gorman, the event would not have happened.

Another good day for our club.
