The Under 8 hurlers made their Go Games hurling debut last Saturday with a fixture against Lucan Sarsfields at home in Cornelscourt. The weather held up and the boys took to the field at 9.45 am sharp. We were down a few bodies but those who turned out hurled very well. Ger’s had two teams and two games of 12 minutes a half were played. Encouragement from the side-line was welcome and while goals were hard to get those in the back line performed heroics on the day. Special thanks to the two Ger’s lads who refereed the games and to Lucan for travelling. We have some work to do on the training ground and the puck out strategy needs some thought but the hurling future is bright and we might see some of these lads lift the McCarthy cup some in Croke park.
