As we approach the middle of May and leave the April showers far behind (ha ha), it is a fine time of year to be playing football on a Saturday morning.

The Ger’s U9s took on the might of the Kilmacud Crokes at home on 13th of May in three thrilling, high scoring matches.

Due to injuries and communions, the Ger’s boys unfortunately didn’t have a full complement, but the teams were rounded out by volunteers from Kilmacud. It has to be said that the Crokers who pulled on the black and yellow showed great sportsmanship and didn’t hold back in playing against their own teams – fair play to them!

The first team for Gers were Cillian, Ryan, Aidan, Sam and Harry, as well as two Kilmacud lads. This was a fast-paced match against a tough opposition, but the Gers boys prevailed, with Cillian, Harry and Aidan playing brilliantly, and both Sam and Ryan scoring hat-tricks.

The second match was a little quieter, but Alec, Jack Dillon, Finn, Daniel and Tadhg still had to work hard to beat their opponents. Showing great skill, as well as a good deal of grit, Gers won out, albeit with a little help from three Kilmacud boys who good-naturedly made up the numbers.

Gers took the third match too, proving that the Geraldines U9s are coming on in leaps and bounds!
