Our hillwalking group had its second outing of the year in Wicklow yesterday.

Conditions were overcast and with the threat of rain our walkers came well prepared. Our trail yesterday was in the beautiful Vale of Clara: while there were some pools of water to be negotiated, the going was a bit like Cheltenham, good to soft but wet in places.
The first part of the walk takes in stretches of the Avondale river and sound of the fast flowing water allowed the author to take his mind off the state of Kerry football for a while! Yesterday we welcomed Brian and Frances, neighbours of our club in Cornelscourt,  and Máirín and Catherine were also making their debuts. The rain held off for the duration of the walk (just over 10km) and we got back to our cars safe and dry and all in good form and looking forward to the next outing.

Thanks to Ted for organising yet another great walk, and to Ger for keeping us posted with the stats – gradient, kilometres walked etc. And to everyone on the walk for the good company!!
