Geraldine’s Under 8’s played their first hurling match of the season on Saturday 22nd of Feb 2014.
This was a historic day for the club, as the Under 8’s played the first competitive match for the club in over 30 years.
With a big group of parents and grandparents on the side-line, shouting support and encouragement, the 2 Geraldines teams set about the task of demonstrating the skills learnt during the winter months. With a link to the past, Jamie’s grandfather Martin Murphy(shouting encouragement) created a link to the past, as he was a former player for the club back then.
This team is a result of the great work done by Darren Magee, our games development officer, and the club management who had the vision to get the club, back in the hurling leagues.
The Under 8’s lead the way, in getting the club playing in the leagues, with many teams to follow over the next few years, through a strong and vibrant academy. Our kids, have left the academy, and now stand on their own as club representatives in the Dublin leagues.
We the coaches Tom/Stephen/Mark/Pat supported by Auf our team admin and co-ordinator, were very proud of them all.
