Foxrock Geraldine’s vs. Liffey Gaels

Kilbogget Park – 2 March – KO @ 11.30

Saturday saw a fantastic Fox Gers turnout for our game in Kilbogget Park. Conditions couldn’t have been better and the pitch was in great condition. Due to reduced numbers available from Liffey Gaels it was agreed to play 1 game, 10 aside with 4 Quarters.

On what was a fantastic day weather wise the game kicked off with the format enabling Fox Gers play all players throughout the course of the game. The first quarter was dominated by Fox Gers holding the majority of the possession.

Morgan and Carl demonstrated the ability to martial in goals as well as having the opportunity to play out field during the game. The quarter ended evenly on the score board with some nice scores from open play.

Quarter 2 was also evenly matched with Patrick, Zack and Christopher getting some great skills points on blocking down keeping us in the game. Sean, who is new to the squad, came on for his first Cap – Congratulations!! Alex and Mark showed some fantastic tenacity competing for the ball with Peter keeping the competition at bay with some great tackling.

Q3 started well however Liffey Gaels came back with some great passing in open play. Most of the action happened in the Fox Gers half and the great defensive efforts from Kaelan and Ronan kept us in the game. The ref was sticky on the pick up skill and Fox Gers gave away a lot of frees on this one – so something to work on in training!

The final quarter saw all the Fox Gers squad on for a portion of the time and our fresh legs really helped.  Jamie and Cian gave us presence in mid field and Daniel took a great point with Shane Power keeping a strong presence in Mid Field. Overall we need to work on our passing to ensure we take our scoring opportunities  – so we’ll be working on our passing skills over the next few sessions.
