Our Minor team put in a very stylish display of football to overcome Boden on a scoreline of 0-6 to our 3-17. As an example of the team football the men played, there were 8 players on the score sheet and the defence held very strong through out the match.

This Minor team is a well balanced unit, with a Core set of players from last season plus a number of  2nd year Minors and the usual great support from our talented U16 players. Continuing the trend from last year our lads have fantastic & large parental support on the sideline, which makes a huge difference to the lads.

We had the first score from the throw-in, after 30 sec from Jamie. This really settle the lads, who followed up with another brace of points and really dogged defending. The guys grew and blended as the first half proceed and we all could see the flowing team passing football come to the fore. We played with the the wind in the 1st half and finished the half on a scoreline of 0-3 to our 1-10.

After the half time talk, Watering & Jellies and running in our subs, we took to the field of play again. This time we were playing into the wind. Boden took advantage of this and had put up 3 points before we got on the score sheet. Game on we feared.

However, no doubt or wobble form this bunch of ‘Bravehearts’. Playing against a strong wind but working the ball from defence through midfield in to attack, with many of the men making runs off the shoulder or down the wings, this Gers Minor team took over. Our defence gave away no more scores and the lads scored 2-7, to close out the game, on a score line of 0-6 to our 3-17.
