In a very tough, tight and exiciting Championship Semi-Final game today, our U16 team have won a well deserved place in the Final.

The men played Round Towers ( Lusk) in Cornelscourt and won on a scoreline of 2-13 to 3-4. But these two teams were locked level at half time and we were only 3 points up with 10 mins to the end.

This game started very well for us. For the 1st 15 minutes we played open, fast running , team passing football and lead by 5 points to their 1 point. Some great scores from Conor K, Jamie BH and our normal defender Cian C.

But then Round Towers got a goal against the run of play. This seemed to spur Round Towers on and game on. We struck back with an excellent team worked goal with Chris finishing off with a cracker into the back of the net.

Our defence were under a lot of pressure in the last 10 -15 mins of the 1st half with the opposition getting 2 goals to our 2 points ( Jamie BH and Conor K a free). The first half finished all square on a score line of 1.7 to 3.1.

There was a serious team discussion at half time. The men knew they did not finish the half well. They looked at each other and vowed that they would prove what this team of men is capable off.

They took to the pitch with fire in their bellies and intent in their eyes. And what a second half performance this bunch of warriors put in. The defence closed up shop, Cormac made many great saves and the mid fields and forwards linked up to create and take some great scores.

We had scores taken by Conor K x2, a point by Chris and a very well taken penalty by Kevin. We were 6 points up. But this Lusk team were not finished and came at us mid way through the 2nd half. They came back to within 3 points of us. At times we seemed to have 12 behind the ball in defence.

But this is when the lads showed their real character, spirit and maturity of football. They kept their heads and played simple well worked passing team football, to close out the match by 3 great points from Kevin, Jamie B and Stephen.

Final score 2.13 to their 3.4.

There was fantastic support again by all the parents and Club members at the match today.

Roll on the final in a few weeks time 😀😀😀😀😀
