Two U8 teams from Geraldines lined out in Cornelscourt on Saturday morning to face very strong opposition from Westmanstown.  Having played so well in the last match, the mentors and parents were very keen to see if we could raise our game once more.

We got our answer; every single player put in an all-time best performance, and showed all the skills that the team has been working hard on in training.  They performed from the first whistle to the last, chasing every ball, and not letting the opposition any time to get into their stride, while taking their scores with great style.

On one team, we saw Eoin Byrne (on his home debut), Omar and Sami (whom was called up at the last minute) Chorbachi and Jack (the rock in the middle of our defensive line) all score and all play fantastic football, while Hugo (who was outstandning) and Sam lead the line in the middle of the pitch.  Sam was voted ‘most improved player’ by the mentors for his terrific play.

On the other team, Tom, Liam and Eoin were terrific throughout both games, while Zenon, Robbie and Padraig were great to watch; passing, tackling and scoring like pros.  Oscar also came into the team at short notice, and showed his class while playing against boys much older than himself.

Well done to the boys and girls of Geraldine’s and Westmanstown for putting on a great sporting display.
