The U10s lined out against a very good St Marks of Tallaght on a bitterly cold morning with the memory of a defeat in their last encounter fresh in their minds. The Gers started well – playing against the wind – with Ben in goal and Charlie, Jack, Adam and Dylan in defence working over-time to keep St Mark’s scores to a minimum. Our midfielders – Omar, JD, Eoin B and Padraig – were under pressure from the start, but through their good movement off the ball, clever passing and strong tackling, they gradually gained dominance.
Up front, Sam, Eoin H and Liam continued to do what they do so well; pressure the opposition defence; make themselves available to receive the ball, and, with their new strike partner, Hugo, score some lovely points.
As the second half progressed (and with the Gers getting the benefit of playing with the wind) we began to pull away, eventually winning by 7 points. It was a well-deserved win and it brought the U10s winning stretch to 5 games. There is still a lot of work to do, but the team has really come on this year, so well done to the boys (and to Darren for the mid-week training session that made the extra difference).
