U11 Girls v St Finians Swords

Last Sunday saw the return of our 2008 girls team to match play after the summer break. Weather was kind. St Finian’s are a 2 team club at Under 11 so we played both teams in two 20 minute games.

We started fast scoring 1-1 before Finian’s grew in to the game, our defence were super under pressure and won lots of tackles when a score seemed most likely. For the most of this first 20 we were the better side and we won out in the end 1-05 to 1-03. Second 20 started evenly but four rapid and very well taken scores put us 3-1 to no score in front, we controlled most of this game running out 3-6 to 0-3 winners.

Some of our play was very good, fast hand passing exchanges leading to 3 scores on the day, our goalkeeper played her best game yet making some gutsy saves and is growing in confidence week on week. As mentioned our defence won lots of ball in the tackle and stood up to everything thrown at them. Midfield and forwards worked very well off the ball and at moved the ball exceptionally well between them.

Special mention for the referee who had a very good game, well done.

As always great support on the side-lines – thank you Parents. Finally thank you St Finian’s for welcoming us so warmly to your club.
