In what was a tough and tense encounter away to Ballyboden today, the Gers boys battled very well, particularly in the second half, finally losing out 2 9 to 1 8.

Ballyboden were a big team and we sometimes struggled to get through on goal. Nonetheless, we got a lot of chances and hit the woodwork no less than on 4 occasions! It just wasn’t to be our day.

It was a day of missed chances really, having given away the momentum to Ballyboden in the first half. After some tough soul-searching at half time, the boys dug in to put huge pressure on the Ballyboden goals time and time again in the second half.

We had plenty of brave performances, but I won’t go into to them individually here. This is the standard of football these boys need to be playing at. We just have to get more consistent and work hard for the full 60 minutes.

Thanks to all the supporters who travelled. Training Monday and Wednesday again this week.

New gear will be available next weekend. Looking for a €50 contribution from each player.
