On a beautiful Saturday morning our U12 warriors went to battle against the great Scoil Ui Chonaill, with fantastic support from the hardy souls who made the journey all the way out to the Clontarf coast road.

From the outset our boys showed they meant business with huge commitment to win the one on one tackles and some excellent movement on and off the ball. The Scoil Ui Chonaill chairman remarked afterwards that we have a super squad, that particularly mentioned the off the ball running and work rate.

There was no doubt who was the stronger and fitter team, with some outstanding displays all over the field.

In particular today, I would single out Eoin H, who captained the team and lead from the front with a fine display at half back, and Conor B, who battled exceptionally well in the full back line, showing first for the ball and hugely strong in the tackle.

But we had loads of great displays – Max very confident in goals, and then up front in the second half, Seamus, Brian H and Cian C, strong on the ball, reading the play exceptionally well and closing out the Scoil forwards time and time again. Matthew F was a tower of strength in the centre back position, as was Ruari and Daniel C on each wing. Ruari had already played 3 rugby games at that stage! Conor K and Conor R continue to stamp their authority as one of the best midfield pairings in Dublin with rock solid performances.

Paul, Byron and Hubie worked hard in the half forward line, with some outstanding running, ball wining and shot selection. Mark o L had a stormer as well up front, showing excellent ability to win and carry the ball, lovely balance and scored a couple of outstanding goals. Luke L and Adam both did very well in full forward, winning ball, taking scores and James slotted in corner forward, working hard to not let the ball get our of the Scoil defence without a battle!

All in all a great day out across the Liffey. This is now the build up to grading leagues next year. We are now trying to recruit a couple of more players into the panel to prep for 15 a side. We believe we are playing a lovely brand of football and have the talent to do very well in the Dublin leagues next year and beyond.

Well done to all who travelled and well done the boys on a great win today.
