What a start to our September campaign! Having kicked off the build up 2 weeks ago with a blitz up in Oafs, the u12s went down to Roundwood on Monday night to take on the Division 1 Wicklow football club. And what a game was put on in front of us – with real inspiration coming from the Dubs in Croker yesterday. A huge pitch gave lots of space to our speed merchants, and they did not disappoint, with some fantastic individual performances all over the pitch. Outstanding displays from Conor K, Ruari, Byron, Paul, Hubie, Conor B (particularly the first half), Mathew F (what a brave 2nd half tackle!), Seamus in goals first half and up front for the second half, Daniel C time and time again in the full back line.

Great also to see Alex get his first goal for us in full forward, Max kicking an excellent free and James getting a crucial point! Overall it was a big team performance with many of the team displaying real heart and hunger to win ball and win in the tackle.

A bit like Kerry, we looked the more stylish team and were pipped by a 2 point margin at the end (with Roundwood scoring a fine late goal).

We were missing a few guys tonight (many starting new schools in the last week, so understandable) and a couple of the team also looked a little tired and not fully in the game – So everyone needs lots of sleep building up to this weekend, and our league game versus Templeogue Synge St.

Thanks to all the supporters who travelled. A great evening.

Bryan, Dave, Ed and Shay.

PS. The club raffle is a big fundraiser for us… if you havn’t got your allocation of tickets to sell we would really appreciate it if you collected them on Saturday. Please also return all sales to date on Saturday.
