Geraldine P Morans 3-12 V 4-2 St Margarets.

The U13 boys finished their grading league with a fine win against St. Margarets at Stepaside. Playing in constant drizzle both teams showed great determination against the elements to produce a very competitive game.

The Gers got off to a flying start with a super goal from Daniel which he followed up with a couple of points. However, the pattern of the game was set as the St. Margarets goalie pulled off save after save to thwart the Gers forwards. Sean, Donal and Liam Mc got into great positions but either bad luck or the brilliant goalie denied them.

At half time Gers were 5 points up and the large turnout of players meant that 7 substitutions were made. All of these changes did nothing to slow the Gers onslaught on the opposition goal, but once again the Margarets goalie was equal to any thing the forwards could throw at him. Mark could have had a hatrick and Chris, Liam T and Kevin went close.  While Gers struggled to convert their chances Margarets hit back to make it a one point game. A couple of positional changes with Jamie BH moving to the forwards worked a treat and Gers took control of the game. Jamie L,  Alex, Cormac, Conor R and Conor were well on top in defence while Tom covered every blade of artificial grass! Steve came back on after injury to drive the the team for one late push.

Donal and Mark found their shooting boots to score a couple of killer goals, with Chris Kevin and Jamie BH pitching in with some great late points. There was still time for some late drama when Conor A almost stopped a St Margarets penalty.

Fitness and skill levels are improving every week and the boys are getting out what they put in, so lets keep up the traininggoing and look forward to which ever League we are put in.

Des & Eamon.
