Geraldine P Morans 9-9 – 3-0 Clanna Gael Fontenoy

The U13 team recorded a big away win at Ringsend Park against Clanna Gael Fontenoy. The match was played through flurries of hail and snow but the weather had no impact on the boys performance. Gers started brightly building up an 8 point lead in the first 15 minutes. However, Clanna Gael hit back with 3 quick goals to take the lead. Gers replied with a goal of their own to go in at half time 2 points up.

The Gers defence pulled down the shutters in the second half and kept the lively Clana Gael forwards scoreless. Meanwhile the Gers forwards went into overdrive, scoring some excellent goals and points to make the game safe. Donal led the forward line in style scoring 5-1, well supported by Chris who scored 1-4. Sean scored two crackers and Byron also got a goal. The scoring was well spread around the team with Kevin, Jamie BH, Rob and Michael pitching in with some great points.

The defence played out of their skins to keep on top with Conor K, Conor R, Seamus, Jamie L and Alex tackling hard and using every ball well to set attacks. Cormac played well after coming out of goals to allow and injured Liam T and Conor A fill in between the posts. All of the subs played their part and were very important with injuries to Liam T and Liam Mc early in the game.

The hard training is paying off for the boys as they get used to the full size pitch.

Thanks to the parents who braved the cold and were nothing but positive at all times in their support of the boys. Thanks to Shay for his special warm up routine before the match and finally a big welcome back from his travels to our sideline guru Eamon.
