U9 Girls Match report v Na Fianna

Sunday morning saw the U9 Gers girls travel to Na Fianna to play against three of their teams.

We started fast getting the first score in the opening minutes of the game and went on to score twice more in the first half – with both teams getting a goal in the second half. Throughout all three matches the girls showed great determination and strength against three strong Na Fianna teams.

The girls worked superbly as a team ensuring everyone got plenty of touches of the ball. Our goalkeepers on the day showed huge bravery and great kicking skills. The defenders were strong and precise in their tackling and clearance, midfielders moved the ball up the field and at times over the bar. The forwards showed incredible accuracy in their kicking even under huge pressure from Na Fianna’s defence.

Throughout the three matches yesterday and previous matches this season it is evident that the girls have grown in confidence and focus. At every opportunity they are making more ground with the ball, are more determined in their tackling and taking shots on goal. The evidence of this was in the final scores with Gers girls winning each of the three matches against great opposition.

Our thanks to all that came to support and especially to the Na Fianna girls and coaches for hosting.
