The Ger’s U9s took on Clondalkin Round Towers at home on 8th April.

In beautiful sunshine, two hurling matches were played, with the Gers boys being divided into two teams.

The first team to take to the pitch were Jack Dolan, Daniel, Riley, Jack Dillon, Tadhg, Ryan and Finn. In a blistering, hard-fought match, Gers performed brilliantly on the ground in the first half, and in the air in the second. Finn scored a hat-trick of goals, and was joined by Riley and Jack Dillon on the score sheet to bring Gers to a well-deserved draw.

On the other pitch, James O’T, Conor, Michael, Aidan, Killian, Conor, Sam and Liam lined out for the Gers. Killian, as usual, shone in goals in the first half, only to come onto the pitch proper in the second half to score a goal of his own. Also on the score sheet were Sam, with a couple of fine goals, and James, with two brilliant ones as well. Conor didn’t make the score sheet, but to my mind was the most energetic player, lashing up and down the pitch and showing real skills – playing so hard he split his hurl! Aidan and the rest of the team played their socks off to take the match.

With these two fantastic games, the under 9s are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with!
