With a late chance of pitch to the borders of Wicklow – Shanganagh to be correct – the fresh country air benefitted our boys who put on a show for the watching crowd and secured a great win over Erin Go Bragh!.

A game of two halves is a cliche, but cliches can be true. The Gers boys won the first half by an impressive 6-04 to 1-01 with the both the half back and forward lines cleaning upo with the great possession provided by our totally dominant midfield, despite Kevin having to depart after only a few minutes.

With the forwards scoring at will, there wasn’t much for the full back line of Alex, Cormac & Liam to do (and nothing for Conor to do in nets)  but that all changed in the second half. With Paul replacing Liam due to a wardrobe malfunction, he was thrown in the deep end as our visitors piled forward.

After two quick goals and a couple of points to the opposition, our boys got back on top and Stephen, Liam, Thomas, Conor renewed their dominance in the half-back/midfield lines. A flurry of points for The Gers towards the end re-established our big lead, and all went home happy, especially Sean, Donal & Mark.

PS  While there was a huge improvement in play from the previous week, it can’t have been easy with Shay roaring from the sideline – even I was scared!

Roll on next week!
