With 2 points separating the teams at the end, the Ger boys can be rightly proud of an excellent performance for their latest league outing, and take sweet revenge for a heavy defeat by Plunketts at their previous away leg.
What a match, with heros all over the pitch. Seamus played solidly in goals all night, with his best kick outs of the season n particular. Out full back line of naoise, Daniel and Conor B were outstanding, under tremendous pressure at times, particularly against the wind in the second half. The heat of battle resulted in naoise and Conor going off injured mid way through the second half. Conor R and David m stepped into the breach!
Brian H had a super game in defence, with a number of crucial attacks in the second half, with Oran outstanding at his side. Conor K had a huge game at midfield. Beside him battled Mark battled bravely for the first 10 minutes, but unfortunately was carrying a knee injury and had to come off… A real blow to the team, but Eoin H took his chance in the half forward line and played a blinder… In fact his best game yet for the Gers, bagging two crucial goals.
Hubie had a stormer of a game, showing for ball time after time and running at the Plunketts defence. Adam slotted in very well full forward and had a super first half in particular, winning ball out front and laying it off well, resulting in a number of key scores.
Matthew F was another man who showed huge leadership in the half back line, reading the game very well.
Cian M showed excellent vision in arguably the move of the game, winning the ball in the wing and squaring it across for Eoin to bury in the net. Ruari C at both midfield and half forward showed just how strong a man he is developing into, winning hard ball and hard yards time and time again. David M also played up front, and really worried their defence with strong ball winning and tackling as well as showing his speed and pace.
Max C also got his chance up front, both at full forward and corner forward. One super move that picked out a central runner was great to watch. Cian M, competed very well, showing for the ball, and laying off intelligently when he got it… A sublime pass to Eoin for a great and crucial goal late in the game.
we were missing a number of players for this game, yet still had the depth to battle through for a great and vital win. Well done to all the boys… Some real leaders emerged in this one… Fantastic to see.
thanks to all our parents and club supporters, including Darren, Donal and Ted! Thanks also to Cian and Paul and James who supported but didn’t play.
