Last Sunday our Under 15 team, under the guidance of Paul and Brendan, made the long trip to Balbriggan to play the local O’Dwyers club in the final of the U15 C Shield. This turned into a great game and one where the Gers had to pull out all the stops in order to secure victory. This game looked like it was going away from the Gers for long periods and even though playing with a strong breeze in the first half, O Dwyers put the first three points on the baord before the Gers got going and rattled off five points with Conor H to the fore with points from both frees and from play. Just before halftime, the opposition pulled the game level and early in the second half they started to dominate the game and pulled five points ahead. But for great defensive work by our lads at this stage, the game would have been out of reach, but led by Evan in goal and Kevin, Dan F and Marc T, they prevented the game from slipping away from us. With Luke and Johnathan R coming more influential at midfield, the last 15 minutes say the Gers at their best and two quick goals and three points secured victory. Afterwards there were scenes of great joy as the many parents, grandparents and supporters who travelled out gathered on the pitch. A proud Luke O C, accepted the trophy in what was as great achievement for this team and yet another great day for the club.

Well done to the 20 players who participated and to the management team. The final score was 2.10 to 0.11.
