Landmark home win! Gers weekly round-up 🚨

Our Intermediate footballers had a great start to life in Division 4 with a 1-10 to 0-11 win over Ballinteer St. Johns infront of a big home crowd in Ballyogan.

Well done to Richie and the lads. It’s also great to see 13 of the starting team have come through the club’s underage set-up, showing the importance of our player pathway.

A minute silence was held before the game in memory of our Club President Brian Nolan, may he rest in peace.

Hard luck to our Junior team who were beaten by a very strong Thomas Davis team in their season opener, but it was a great to see a number of players make their debuts for the club.

We wish Jack, Rob and Dan all their best with their recovery from injuries sustained in the game.

Congratulations to our U8 Boys who had their first ever Go-Games this weekend when they played Shankill.

Well done to the players on both sides. It’s great to see new faces wearing our club colours.

The Academy was held on Saturday morning, well done to all who took part.

All are welcome to join, spread the word.

Well done to the U15 Girls who held a cake sale on Saturday morning.

The girls raised €620 for their Féile later this year, items including plaits and wrist bands can still be purchased from the team.

Two Gers U12 hurling teams took to the field on Saturday in separate home and away fixtures.

The ‘Black’ team were at home vs a strong Clontarf side and while they were a couple of points short at the end the 13 Gers boys left everything on the pitch.

Ralph Higgins on his debut for the club took a superb goal, Ben Plunkett nailed a long range point and Adam Brown was Eoghan ODonnellesque in defence giving a captains display on the day.

Our ‘Amber’ squad went northside to take on Naomh Barrog.

The 12 Gers boys dug deep all day on a wet pitch and were two points up with seconds on the clock when Barrog snatched a late goal to steal a one point win.

Bobby Smith was outstanding all day. Senan Skelton and Sean Donahue were pillars at the back and Evan Coffey performed heroics in goal.

The future bodes well for our U12 hurlers ahead.

Well done to all the teams in action this weekend, the action is well and truly underway for 2024.

Up the Gers #GersAbú💛🖤
