GAA INJURY SCHEME

Player Injury Scheme

Geraldines P Moran GAA Players, Coaches and Mentors are covered by injury schemes run by the National Governing Bodies (GAA, Camogie, Ladies Football) and details of these schemes are given below. Note that following a recent 2021 change in the GAA Membership and Injury Fund online system, you will not be eligible for cover through the GAA until membership has been paid in full. Additionally, to qualify for cover, your injury must have been sustained in an official Geraldines P Moran training event or match.

If you are injured during training or during a match then you

MUST complete this INJURY REPORT

and send the completed report to the Club Secretary at secretary.geraldinemorans.dublin@gaa.ie within seven days of the injury having occurred.
If the injury occurs during a match, it

MUST also be detailed in the referee's post match report.

This is essential - it must be recorded in the Referees report so report ALL Injuries to referee please.

Claims being made via the injury schemes run by the National Governing Bodies must only be made if other avenues have been exhausted. The private schemes run by the different Games Associations are not "insurance" policies and should only be availed of when you have no other recourse. It is expected that claimants seek redress by all other available means first and other avenues open to seek compensation may include:

- State Welfare Schemes
- Private Health Insurance (Irish Life Health, VHI, Laya Healthcare etc.)
- Employer Schemes
- Revenue Commissioners (Tax Rebates & Reliefs)

The GAA and Ladies Board schemes do not seek to compensate fully for injury but rather look to reduce the hardship to players and officials. Further details of these schemes can be found by clicking on the following links:

Please either contact the Club Secretary or your team manager/mentor when engaging in any follow up in relation to an injury claim. The welfare of our players is of paramount importance to our Club and we encourage Players (or Parents of Juveniles) and Coaches to familiarise themselves with the details and constraints of the different schemes outlined above as well as the procedures to be followed.
